I looked like one; round and overstuffed person. I wasn't just overweight;
I was obese (I hate that word). Invariably at family functions, someone had
a camera to record the happy occasion. Viewing the prints later was
anything but a happy occasion for me. I didn't recognize myself. I didn't
know I looked that bad. It would be at times like this that I would go on a
crash diet. I’d starve myself, skip meals and lose 20 pounds. To celebrate
my victory, I’d binge on all my favorite snacks and gain back 25 pounds.

I had contacted Thomas as a fitness instructor. It was one of those times
when I was really sick and tired of being sick and tired. I didn't feel very
good about myself when I walked in to it with an open mind and check it
out. When I look back on it now, I was like a drowning man reaching out
for whatever was there to latch onto. I talked to him for several minutes
and made a decision. I signed up. I made a commitment. Thomas gave me
the book, “Eating For Life” by Bill Phillips and I began to read about a new
way of eating. This was not a diet in the conventional way of dieting. I
began a different relationship with food, one that I could live with.

Thomas does not just set up the food. It is a well-planned program
involving correct eating habits and progressive physical exercise. I eat
whenever I'm hungry; I just make different choices in what I eat. As for the
exercise sessions, I won’t kid you. The first two or three sessions were a
real struggle. That all changed. I'm not sure what changed it – whether
the exercises got easier or the results were so dramatic. In 12 weeks, I
lost 33 pounds of fat and gained some rock hard muscle. People who
have known me for years do a double take. My size 40 pants have been
replaced by 32’s. At 42 years old, I'm starting to look like my high school
yearbook photos. Bring on the cameras!
